PRICES AT FRANKTON
A BETTER SALE
Messrs. Dalgoty and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual weekly stock tale at Ifrankton saleyards on Tuesday, December 16, as under:—There was a very small entry of fat sheep, and a large entry of fat Jambs. Competition was keen, and prices were 2/ to 3/ per head higher en light fat wethers than last week. Heavy wethers made 18/; light wethers, 17/ to 21/; fat -woolly ewes, 14/9; fat woolly ewes aud wethere, 18/9.; fat lainbe, heavy, up to 20/9; light fat lambs, 14/G to 17/3. There was a large yarding of fat cattle. Good quality young beef sold at higher rates than last week, while aged and inferior cow beef sold at late rates. Good quality prime bullocks sold from £11 to £12 15/; light and inferior bullocks, £9 to £10 10/; small two-year steers, £7; prime fat heifers at up to £7 17/G; email fat heifers, £5 12/6 to £6 2/6; Sight Jersey cows and heifers, £3 15/ to £5 12/0. There wa-s a moderate yarding of store cattle, and fairly good competition. We sold 100 Polled Angus and Hereford steers, rising two years, at up to £5 17/, averaging £5 1/ per head. Other classes of cattle sold at late rates. Dairy heifers, £4 10/. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Teport as follows: —Fat bullocks made £12 7/; light fat bullocks, £9 3/ to £10 1/; fat cows and heifers, £7 10/ to £8 1/.; medium fat cows, £6 4/ to £7 2/; light, £4 17/6 to £5 15/; for-ward-conditioned, £4 2/6 to £4 12/6; store, £2 10/ to £3 15/; Hereford and Polled Angus cows and calves, £6; vealets, £1 7/ to £3; two-year Polled Angus steers, £5 11/ to £6 4/; 18-months Polled Angus steere, £5 2/; bulls, £2 7/6; to £4 15f; yearling steere, £2 10/; fat wethers, 17/6; prime fat lambs, 19/3 to 21/9; lighter, 12/ to 18/4; heavy baconers, £2 10/ to £2 14/; heavy porkers and light baconers, £2 5/ to £2 8/; light porkers, £1 18/ to £2 3/; good stores, 35/ to £2; slips, 29/ to 32/; weaners, 18/ to 28/.
TAUMARUNUI. The yarding at the Tautnarunui stock sale held on Tuesday comprised 50 head of mixed cattle, and' a few pigs. There was only a email attendance of farmers, and the cattle were hard to quit. The weauer pigs were in demand, and made from 15/ to 18/. One Shetland pony changed hands at £4. Th'e following prices were realised: Cows and calves, £'2 15/; weaner steers, £18. Yearling steers were passed in at 35/, and there was no demand for the yearling heifers. Pigs: Weaners made from 15/ to 18/.
