NAPIER, Tuesday,
A disatftroue fire, in which it is believed that six. or eight cars were destroyed, occurred at Waipukurau this evening at the garage of Mason and Patori, an old one*storeyed building. The brigade was quickly on the scene, but its task was practically hopelesa. A few cars were eaved, including a large service car. Mr. Paton wae engaged in examining a car with an. inspection lamp when the wires, fused and ignited some benzine. The flames spread iso quickly tha-t Mr. Paton and Mr. W- B. Blackburn, who was in the garage with him, had to run for safetj r . It is understood that Mr. Mason and Mr. Patpji are heavy losers. Another heavy lo«=er is Mr. R. Mason, who lived on the premises. Very little of his furniture was- eaved.
