CONCERT AT PAPATOETOE.

A concert in aid of the Maori Mission was given in the Papatoetoe Town Hall on Wednesday by a party of Maori Mission entertainers. Sister Nicholls was in charge of the programme in the absence of the general superintendent, the Rev. A. J. Seamer. The. entertainment opened with a welcome ceremony, to which a reply was given by Chief Te Hiringa Mateono, of Waikato. This was followed by the Doxology, a prayer and psalm in Maori. The party then sang a chorus, "Our Fathers Crossed the Ocean," a canoe poi dance representing the coming of the Maoris to New Zealand. A representation of a Maori tiki was given next. Te Hiringa Mateono and the party contributed hymns. Songs sung by Maori girls included "E Pari Ra," by Miss Ra.ngi Ta.whai, of North Auckland; "Waiata Poi," by Miss Mori Erihana, of Otago, with actions by Misitf Rangi Karamaina, and eolo numbers by Miss Riria Warihi, of Canterbury, and Miss Ra.ngi Karamaina, of Whatawhata. Solos by Maori men were "Te Whiti Waiata," by Waka Taituha, of Taranaki, and a selected number by Wi Perahama. Nikora, of Manawatn. Te Akonga Pihama gave a steel .cm i tar solo.
