New Zealander Dies in Arms of His Friend. LAST MESSAGE TO HIS WIFE. SYDNEY, December 3. After being crushed in a car smash which occurred between Bega and Cobargo, Andrew Smith, aged 45, a New Zealander, gave a farewell message for his wife and family and then died in his friend's arms. With. John Normington, from South Australia, he was motoring from Melbourne when their car somersaulted twice over an embankment. Normington was not injured. "I am dying." said Smith, "cable my wife and family." He then fell bac-k lifeless.
