FRIENDLY RELATIONS.
THEIR VALUE IN BUSINESS
ADDRESS TO CREDITMEN'S CLUB,
"Friendliness in business" was the title of an interesting address which Mr. W. IT. Fortune delivered yesterday at the luncheon meeting of the Auckland Creditmen's Club. Mr. J. M. Elliffe preteidted over a large attendance. Mr. Fortune said his subject divided itself naturally into three heidfi, namely, friendliness between a business house and its' employees, between a firm and its customers and between different firms. Competition was g6od for everybody and was an excellent stimulus to efficiency, but it need not be the parent qf antagonism. It was always worth while going more than half ; way in order to ensure friendly relations, for friction caused heat, and heat spoiled the smooth.working of the machinery. Speaking of the value of the club's organisation, Mr. Fortune said the pooling of knowledge and experience was a great asset. Every individual could buy experience; let them "swop" experiences arid save the cost.
It Was the final lunch meeting of the session, which was described by Mr. R. A. Aickin as having been of marked social and educative value. The wise control of credit was a gre&t asset to th 6 community, and great responsibility devolved upon the credit manager of a business house. An excellent musical programme was contributed to by Messrs. Milne and Choyce's Christmas Songsters and by Mr. Len Barries and Mr. F. Campbell.
