BEQUEST TO BOY.
BENEFICIARY MUST DECIDE. OFFER OF £15,000. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Wednesday. Referring to the message from Ldndon which stated that a bequest of £15,660 had been made to & son of Dr. Guy Hailwright, on certain conditions, by his grand-uncle in England, Dr. Hallwright, who is medical superintendent of Wairoa Hospital, stated to-day that the news did not come as a surprise, as the matter had been in the air for some time. The particulars given in the cabled message are correct, however, and Dr. IJalhvright stated that the matter was one for the lad himself to decide. Probably something would be decided upon when the beneficiary came home for the Christmas holidays. The lad was educated first at- Wairoa and Huntly, and is now attending Hadfield College. The message by cable was as follows: "'The News Chronicle' says a keen desire to perpetuate a family panje actuated the Rev. John Arthur Wright's provisional bequest of £15,000 to a schoolboy of 15, Matthew Neal Hallwright, of Wairoa, New Zealand. The testator, a Bedford man, left his estate in trust, with remainder to Matthew if he assumed the name of Leslie instead of Hallwright. Mr. Wright christened his only son Leslie, but he predeceased him, as did his grandson, also named Leslie, who was killed in East Africa in the war. The testator further desired Matthew to enter holy orders, and to go to the old-world village of Todd'ington, Bedfordshire."
