OBITUARY.

BRITISH LABOUR M.P. " (Received 10.30 a-.m.) LONDON, December 2. The death is announced of Mr. Walter J. Baker, M.P. (Lab., Bristol East since 1923). Up to his death he.'was head of the Research Department of the Union of Post Office Workers.

Mr. Baker defeated his Liberal opponent in the last general election by 11.621 although in the two earlier elections his majorities had been only 4777 and 2036. He had previously contested the Harborough 6eat unsuccessfully in 1918 and 1922.
