Nelson Girl was just a moderate, but she managed to pay her way, although there was never any promise that she would reach high society. ■ NOT TOO SOUND. Logan's Pride, who, all going well, will have plenty of admirers for the Auckland Cup, is still favouring one of his legs a little, and it may be that his trainer, F. Cotton, will have some anxious moments keeping the Logan Pointer gelding on hie legs for the Cup, Logan's Pride Is a smart pacer at any distance, but ho will have to do a solid preparation to run out the two miles at the pace the Cup will be decided at. CLASSES TO SUIT. The Author Dillon mare, Nella Dillon, has not raced up to expectations so far this season, but on more than one occasion she has settled her prospects by failing to go away right. She ie in the beet of condition and doing steady exercise, and as the , classes at the approaching Cup meeting will suit her nicely it is possible she will show her true form then. At the same time the opposition will be the strongest she will meet during the season. STONEY AT BRIGHTON. The*grey gelding Stoney, is entered for the New Brighton meeting and is handicapped on 4.37. Unless he does considerably better in the South than he did in hie races in Auckland he will become something of the- joke he was with racegoere up this way.
FREE APVICE SOLD. The Messrs. McKendrick Bros, have disposed of Free Advice to Mr. G. J. Barton, and the mare will remain in W. Tomkinson's stable. Free Advice is handicapped rather tightly in sprint races, and Mr. Barton is not going to find it an easy matter to get his purchase money back. However, Tomkmson has been training the daughter of Blue Mountain King for some time and no doubt it was on his advice that Mr. Barton purchased her. TROTTING AT PERTH. There are forty meetings every year at Perth, while the F.remantle Club, which also racee at night, conduct twelve meetings.
