WOODHILL INSTITUTE.
A social evening and dance under the auspices of the Woodliill Women's Institute in aid of Sister Pat's Mission, was held in the Woodliill Hall on Saturday, November 29. There _ was a large attendance, visitors being present from Auckland, Helensville and* Waimauku. Attired, in old English frocks and smocks, junior members trained byMrs. J. A. Pym,.gave an interesting exhibition of country and Morris dancing. In an instructive address Mrs. Pym explained the origin of these dances. Mrs. Stanley Phillips and Miss Eddleston were the accompanists. . The following members took part in the dances: Mrs. Pym, Mrs. Deane, Mrs. Geo. McDonald, Misses Annie Macaveney, Lynsie McLeod, Jean Gillies, Beverley Phillips, Joclyn Phillips, Joan Phillips, Ida Woodhall, Peggy de Vere, "fsobel Quarrie, Jessie Carrie and Flora Quarrie. Song* were rendered by Miss Sybil Phillips, , of Auckland, and Mr. Stanley Phillips, and a recitation was given by Miss Lorha ■ Quarrie. - The latter .part of the. evening was-spent in ballroom dancing. Miss Phyllis Megson and Mr. Bert Keane were the winners of a waltfcrng competition and Mr. and Mrs. C. West won the Monte Carlo. Supper was served by members of the institute, after which dancing continued till midnight.' As a pleasing result of the effort the sum of • ten guineas was .raised. ".
