AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.
DEPUTATION FROM UMPIRES
GAMES AGAINST WELLINGTON.
At last evening's meeting of the Auckland Cricket Association, a deputation from the Umpires' Association requested that they should be given representation .on the controlling body, as was the case in Wellington. The cliairnian, Mr. E. E. Nalder, said that the present rules would not allow the Umpires' Association to appoint a member to the management committee, but that the latter body, if it so wished, could co-appoint v a member from the Umpires' Association. The usefulness of such a representative was queried by Mr. J. H. Watts. Other members spoke in support of the request, and it was finally decided to co-appoint a member on the management committee. Mr. W. A. Duff was proposed as the umpires' representative. ■ January 23, 24, 26 and 27 were the Jdates suggested by the Wellington Association for the Plunket Shield match against Auckland. 'It was decided that the dates be accepted. The Wellington Association also asked that an attempt should be made to arrange an Auckland-Wellington match at Wellington on a date subsequent to the Auckland team's tour. The committee decided, to advise the Wellington Association that it would not commit itself, as it was doubtful whether an Auckland team of satisfactory strength could be sent South at that time. Mr. D. V. Moore reported that four entries had been received for the fifth grade competition, and that two other teams might enter. It was hoped to begin the competition on Saturday week. It was decided that, after Tuesday next action should be taken against clubs playing unregistered players. A notice of motion that three representative selectors be appointed at the next meeting was moved by Mr. P. Shaw. SATURDAY'S ARRANGEMENTS.
