TRAMWAY EXTENSIONS.
ELLEESLTE WANTS SERVICE. The Transport Board will consider in committee a proposal made by the Ellerslie Town Board for an extension oi the tramway track from its present terminus at the Harp of Erin along Panmure Road to Lake Road, a distance of 111 chains. A petition is being prepared
by residents in support of the proposal. The chairman of the board, Mr. J. A. C Alium, reported at this morning's meeting that the legislation had been finally passed which permitted of the Sandrinsham pxteraion to Vincent Road, and the" successful tenderer had been notified. The work would be put in hand immediately. It was decided to run a feeder bus service between Lincoln Street and the present terminus at the intersection of Richmond Road and Peel Street until the tram extension is completed. The bus service bet-ween Richmond Road and the city has been discontinued. In respect to the Point Chevalier extension a letter was received from the local branch of the Labour party stating that the time-table waa inadequate and asking for a ten-minute serviceIt was decided to reply that the service was adequate for this time of the year and a more frequent service would be run when requirements warranted.
