R- Mason's 'Property Law Amendment Bill has been altered ;by the •Statutes Revision Committee in 'respect of some formal matters, but the onlj substantial amendment concerns the limitation of the times within which >an owner of land may take action to recover it from a stranger who is in '.possession The law in New Zealand allows 20 years in an ordinary ease, but gives additional time where the owner is under certain disabilities, such as infancy or absence overseas, and provides a maximum period of 40 years, after which, irrespective of disabilities, no action can be brought. , . , The original bill reduced all periods in accordance with the reductions made in England. As the result of the changes made%y the committee the periods are left as in the present law, except in the case of the 40-year maximum.
