RICHMOND CRUISING CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. . The twenty-second annual meeting of the Richmond Cruising Club was held last evening at 8, West End Road, the commodore, Mr. T. L. Thompson, presiding. Before proceeding with the- business tiie chairman referred to the loss the boating community had sustained by the recent death' of Mr; W. D. Ross, and all present stood in silence as a mark of respect. The annual report stated that the past ■ season compared very favourably with the f ftwfrt in the club's' history, all events being carried out successfully. The regatta was the chief fixture, the sum .of £40 being paid out in prizes for the day, all of which came out of club funds. Prize night drew a very large attendance, the president, Mr. Jas. Donald, presiding. Thanks to the ladies' committee it was a financial success. The hauling out site at Cox's Creek had been in big demand, and a large number of boats were accommodated. The clubhouse was in good order, except that it requires to be painted, and this work will be taken in hand by the new committee. The thanks of the club were extended to the Press for full racing reports, and to the honorary officers for donations to the funds. The balance-sheet showed receipts totalling £84 0/11, the chief items being subscriptions, £16 11/; entry fees, £19 11/; locker rents, £12 5/, and donations, £18 4/. The expenses left a credit balance of £14 7/1. The clubhouse was valued at £200, and liabilities were nil. Mr. Thompson, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that in the face of difficult times the club was still in a good position. It was proposed to increase the width of the dkidway at the clubhouse from 6ft to 9ft, and to, do some necessary repairs. ' The success of the regatta was in no. small measure due to the assistance given by their president, Mr. Jas. Donald, who placed his fine launch at the club's disposal for .the afternoon. . , Mr. J. Donald, In seconding the adoption of the report, paid a'tribute to the good work of the commodore, officers and committee. The following officers were elected for the coming season :-rPatron, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth; vice-patron, Mr. J. L. Longbottom ; president, Mr. J. Donald; vicepresidents, same as last year; commodore, Mr. T. L. Thompson; vice-commodore, Mr. G. Smith; rear-commodore, Mr. R. Judd; hon. secretary, Mr. L. Philpott; hon. treasurer, Mr. Ivo. Dennes; hon. auditors, Messrs. J. Longbottom and F. H. Downs; committee, Messrs. J. Sutherland, T. Bell, C Brown, R. Judd, V. Hogan, R. Pawson, E. Wheaton, H. Wakely, T. Humby, and R. Thompson. . • Considerable discussion took place on the question of affiliating to the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat. Association. It was thought that the benefits received did not warrant the club continuing in the association, in view of the fact that, only the regatta fixture would be required. A recommendation by the outgoing- committee not to affiliate was carried on the casting vote of the chairman. ' A vote of thanks to the retiring hon. secretary, Mb R. J. Thompson, and the hon. treasurer, Mr. F. TI. Downs, concluded the meeting. ~ . A number of trophies were promised for the coming season, including a cup for highest points by Mr. J. Longbottom.
