FROZEN MEAT. PRICES AT SMITHFIELD. The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cable . from its London office, dated October 3, 1930, advising that the following are the approximate average prices realised for the week, based 011 actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels* of the goods offering during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smitlifield market and/or ex London stores:— Sheep.—Canterbury and North Island selected crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 48/561b, 5 7 /sd per lb; 57/641b, sVzd; 65/721b, oVid; North Island, 48/561b, 5%d; 57/G4lb, SJAd;5 J Ad; 65/721b, 5%d; ewes, 48/G4lb, 3%d; 65/721b, 3%d. Consumption falling off with larger supplies Home-killed meat and game. New Zealand mutton: Wethers, market keeps firm' with better prices. Ewe's, meeting fair speculative demand at better prices. Beef: Stocks are light. Demand is improving. New Zealand, porker pigs: Arrival of heavier supplies has eased .prices slightly, but demand is good. Baconers: Nominal prices. Unsaleable owing to extremely low prices of Continental bacon. DAIRY PRODUCE. THE BOARD'S REPORT. The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board lias received the following market report from its London office, dated October 3:— Butter—New Zealand: Salted,- 116/ to 122/; exceptional, 324/; unsalted, 140/ to 150/; first whey, 112/; second whey, 110/. Deliveries New Zealand this week, 1065 tons; in store, 8550 tons. Australian: Salted, 110/ to 120/; unsalted, 128/ to 130/. Argentine: Unsalted, 116/ to 120/. Irish cream: Salted, 120/; unsalted, 124/. Danish: F.0.b., 138/; spot, 146/ to 148/. Dutch: Unsalted, 138/ to 142/. Estonian: 118/ to 120/. Latvian: Salted, 110/ to 120/; unsalted, 118/ to 120/. Siberian: 116/. Polish: 96/ to 108/. > Lithuanian: 112/ to 116/. Market slow and falling throughout week. New Zealand retail price, 1/4; Danish, 1/6. Allen and Findlay, Ltd., have received the undermentioned cabled report from their principals, Messrs.' Armour and Company, dated London, October 3:— Butter—Market demoralised. New Zealand: Salted, 116/ to 122/; unsalted, 146/ to 148/. Australian: 114/ to 120/. Cheese—Market slow. New Zealand: White, 71/ to 73/; coloured, 70/ to 72/. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having received the following cablegram from their London principals, Messrs. Samuel Page and Son, dated 3rd instant: — Butter—Since our last wire butter 4/ lower. No sign of improvement. Butter now 116/ to 120/. Messrs. A. 11. Turnbull and Co. have received the following cable from their London principals, Messrs. W. Weddel and Co., dated London, October 3:— Butter. —Danish, 146/ to 148/; New Zealand, unsalted, 146/ to 150/; salted, 116/ to 122/ per cwt. Market slow. Cheese.—New Zealand, white, 71/ to 73/; coloured, 70/ to 72/. Market slow. Canadian, white and coloured, 77/ to 78/ per cwt. ! Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co. have received the following cable from their London principals, Messrs. Nathan and Trengrouse, dated October 4:— Butter.—ll6/ to 120/ per cwt. Market weak. . Cheese.—White, 71/ per cwt; coloured, 70/. Downward tendency continues. Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., have to-(Jay received the following market report from their London office: — Butter market still unsettled. Continued absence any general demand. Anchor price 122/, other finest 120/. Danish, 138/, f.o.b. Retails now generally 1/4, Nejy Zealand, and 1/6 for Danish. Deliveries of New Zealand 1065 tons; stock, 8544 tons. Cheese market unsettled, with very little buying. White, 72/; coloured, 71/. Canadian, 77/ to 79/, spot. Asking 72/, c.i.f., for best cheese, but little business passing. Retail position unchanged.
