WEEK-END FIRES. DAMAGE TO BOOT FACTORY. OUTBREAK AT PARNELL. Tie stock and fittings of a boot fac; tory at Parnell were badly damaged by fire early yesterday morning. The premises were at 10, feuskin Street, Parnell, and were owned by Mr. W. Monks. When the City brigade got the alarm from a nearby resident the front of the place was blazing fiercely,' but the flames were prevented from spreading to the rear of the building. What stock was in the front was extensively damaged, but most of the machinery, situated in the rear, was saved. At one time it was feared that the flames would spread to a neighbouring house, occupied by Mrs. E. Anderson, but the efforts of the firemen saved the second building from other than a scorching. The building is insured for £1500 and the contents for £4500 in the Home Insurance Office. Fire gutted three of the four rooms of a cottage in Meadowbank Koad, Remuera, oil Saturday evening. The occupier, Mr. W. Jones, was absent. Boßth the Remuera and the Parnell fire brigades attended, but the fire had a strong hold by the time they arrived. The contents were insured for £150 m the Australian Provincial Assurance Office, and the building was owned by Mr. T. U. Wells, of Westbourne Road, Remuera.
