AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. SEASON OPENS OCTOBER 25. v Three clubs, University, Graf ton and North Shore, made application for fhe services as a playing member of the professional coach, A. F. V/ensley, at the-first meeting of the newly-elected management committee of the Auckland Cricket Asso-' ciatlori last evening. Mr. B. E. Nalder presided. i The Parnell Club made a donation of £3 3/ towards the winter indoor net practice fund, and, together with the Eden and University Clubs, expressed appreciation of the inauguration of indoor practice during the winter. It was decided to obtain from the senior clubs and the larger junior clubs nominations of delegates for appointment to the junior advisory committee at the next meeting. Mr. D. V. Moore was appointed chairman of the junior advisory committee for the season. The following sub-coinmittees were elected: —Coach committee, Messrs. E. E. Nalder, H. Duncan, P. Shaw, N. C. Snedden; coach finance committee, Messrs. E. B. Nalder, C. Hay, F. Earl, P. Shaw, N. C. Snedden, with power to add; country committee, Messrs. C. A. Snedden; N. Martin, J. IT. Miller, H. Warneford, N. Hockin; grounds committee, Messrs. E. E. Nalder, P. Shaw, N. C. Snedden. Mr. H. Duncan , was co-opted as a member of the management committee. The date for the opening of the season was-set down for Saturday, October 25, provided the grounds were, ready, and it was decided to close the entries lor nil grades on -Monday, October 20, at 5 p.m. After considerable discussion it was resolved to play competition matches on Labour Day. In replying to the New Zealand Cricket Council's circular concerning home and home matches in the Plunkct Shield competition, the management committee ex-, pressed the opinion that it did not consider such fixtures to be practicable.

CITY AND SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION,

The report and balaii(!e-slioet presented at the annual meeting of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association last night showed that the past season had been very successful. Prospects were bright for'the coining year. The president, Mr. J. Elliott, presided over a large attendance. The total receipts for tho season were £412 14/10, and the expenses were £517 15/3. Out of this sum no less than £272 was paid in ground rents. The liabilities had been reduced from £300 to £105 during the year, besides meeting all incidental expenses in connection with the year's working, and the association could now confidently -anticipate that by the midseason all liabilities would be wiped off. The senior A competition was Avon by Green Lane, and the nunior grade B by Invicta. The association extended to these clubs its hearty congratulations. The association was fortunate in having an efficient Umpires' Association of some 20 members, who would compare favourably with those of any sister association in the Dominion. Information had i>een received that several new clubs had been formed and had applied for affiliation. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Von der Hyde was passed, members standing In silencs. A presentation of an inscribed cricket cap was made to L. Rreese for his sterling batting performances in the senior competition. Tho election of officers resulted as follows :—Patrons, Messrs. G. Davis and W. S. Pratt; vice-patron, Mr. E. Davis; president, Mr. .J. Elliott; A-lce-presidents, same as last year; secretary, Mr. E. Stallworthy ; treasurer, Mr. A. Riddell, jun.; hon. auditor, Mr. 11. Johnson ; management committee, consisting of a delegate from each senior club.

AVONDALE CLUB,

The annual meeting of the above club was held on Monday night. There was a good attendance. In the absence of the president, Mr. A. A. Baker was elected to the chair, The report and balance-sheet showed the club to be in a sound financial position. During the year the social committee worked very hard in a series of "500" card evenings, which were financially successful. The secretary, Mr. H. Green, was accorded a vote of thanks for his services. The officers elected for the ensuing year were as follow Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P.; president, Mr. H. P. Burton; vice-presidents. Dr. Warnock, J. ROTORUA ASSOCIATION.

The balance sheet presented at the annual meeting of the Kotorua Cricket Association last night, over which Mr. H. L. Jlusgrnve presided, showed a credit balance of £7 C/ 4. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. C. 11. Clinkard; president, Mr. D. W. Steele; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. R. Ryder, S. H. Heay, J. Dixon, j; Hlgglns; secretary, Mr. R. G. Webb; assistant secretary, Mr. .T. Hinton; treasurer. Mr. 11. L. Musgrave; auditor. Mr. L. Dingle; delegates, Messrs. J. J. Lewis, J. H. Higgins, .T. T. Burton. j< , . G. Reed, O. Hailwood, W. WAIKATO ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Waikato Cricket Association was held this evening. Mr R. Johnston presided. The report stated that the proposed South Auckland Cricket Association would probably be constituted and In operation before the end of the year. This would mean that the management committee would be relieved of the burden of managing representative, fixtures, and would only be concerned with the conduct of its own competitions and sub-association matches. The financial statement showed a slight credit balance. An application from the Hamilton Girls' Cricket Club for affiliation was referred to the management committee with power to act. A letter from the club stated it had now a. membership of over 30, and hoped to have four teams playing by Christmas. . The following officers were elected : Patron Mr. J. A. Young, M.P.;■ president, Mr A. E. Manning; vice-presidents, last year's re-elected with addition of Mr. R. W. Forster; secretary, Mr. A. E. Gibbons;' auditor, Mr. S. R. Edwards.
