Tho applicant was a young married woman named Marian Lynda Wakefield, who proceeded against her husband, John Thomas Wakefield, a salesman. She said they were married in 1925. Three weeks before the kst baby was boni her husband left her destitute, and she had to appeal to the police to get him to return. He had 1-eft her for various periods since, and all she received from him was a few. shillings occasionally. She denied that she was addicted to drink or that she associated with other men. Defendant declared that his wife's drinking habits and her fondness for other men broke tip the home. He was, he said, doing his best to get on, and had sent his wife about £1 18/ a week. A letter was put in, having been written by defendant to his wife a few days ago.
