UNBEATEN , RUGBY RECORD
A COLLECTION OF TROPHIES
(By Telegraph.— Special to " Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Wellington's .unbeaten record in football for the past season draws attention to the fact that at present the capital city i s at the head of the list in most major, sports. Besides holding the Eanfurly Shield, Wellington i s at present in possession of the three most important trophies for summer sports, the Plunket Shield for cricket., the Wilding Memorial Shield for tennis, and 'the 'Athletic Shield for Amateur Athletics. In Soccer the.Wellington team, on the past season's record, is second only to Auckland, the English .Association Trophy holders, while the Chatham Cup for New Zealand's champion Soccer club reposes in a suburb of Wellington. The ladies' hockey team tied for the knockout championship trophy, but the men's hockey team failed this season. In swimming and boxing also, Wellington cannot claim so distinguished record.
