RIFLE SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB.
The Auckland City Defence Rifle Club commenced the 1030-31 season with an open day at 200 yards and 300 yards on tlie Penrose range last Saturday. The attendance was poor, owing to threatening weather, but the actual shooting conditions were perfect, and the new black and white targets made splendid sighting. A. C. Watson was top off the rifle in a count back from H. Judkins, his "possible" at 300 yards being the best club shoot seen on the range for some years, R. McLeay was also responsible for a sterling performance. Watson and Judkins won spoons, McLeay being counted out. Scores off the rifle were:—A. C. Watson, 44 at 200 yds, 50 at 300yds—total, 94; H. Judkins, 47, 47—94 ; R. McLeay. 47. 46— 93 ; A. Simmonds, 45, 45—90; C. J. M. Clark, 43, 44—57; P. J. Pring, 42, 84 ; A. Sommerville, 40, 44—54; M. H.Russell, 40, 43 —83; A. G.- Robertson, 39, 43 —S2; C. J. Robinson, 39, 43—82; S. C.
Wells, 36, 41—77; B. M. Tasker, 40, 37—! 77 ; H. Collingwood, 32, 39—71. The championship series will open at 200 yards and 300 yaTds on Saturday,
