LEFT HIS "SWAG."
BURGLAR IN PARNELL. PARCEL OF SILVER AND CUTLERY. DISTURBED WHILE AT WORK. KINGSLAND VICARAGE ENTERED.
Thieves were again at work during the week-end, entering a Kingsland vicarage last night and stealing a small sum of money, while at Cleveland Road, Parnell, on Saturday night, an intruder was disturbed robbing a house and decamped, leaving his "booty" behind. The occupants of tlie Cleveland Road house went out early on Saturday evening, leaving the premises securely locked. When a lady returned at 10.30 p.m. and opened the front door she heard a noise, and looking along the passage, was surprised to see a man leaving hurriedly by the back door. The man got away. The burglar had forced a side window and had entered every room in the house, ransacking drawers and cupboards in search of money and valuables. From one room he stole £1 6/ in cash. Had the man not been disturbed he would have secured a good haul, for it was found that a number of expensive gramophone records and a quantity of valuable silver and.. cutlery had been wrapped up by the burglar and left near the open window ready to be taken away. ' While the Rev. K. J. McFarland was conducting the service .at St. George's Anglican Church a thief was at work in the vicarage next door, The vicar's writing desk in his study was forced open and a small sum of money was stolen, while a few shillings were secured from another room. On the vicar's return he found the : front and back doors open. It is believed the thief lif,ed up a side window to gain entrance.
