RAIN AT COLERIDGE.
LAKE LEVEL MAINTAINED.
CANTERBURY POWER SUPPLY ANXIETY STILL PREVAILS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CIIRISTCHURCH, this clay. Four hours'- rain fell at wile Coleridge yesterday. and the level of the lake was maintained during the weekend.' Economy measures still continue] however, and Christchurch ir without street lights at night. There has. been heavy rain on the West Coast and at Arthur's Pass. At the head waters of the Waimakariri River there - was • a trood fail of rain* but in the Rakaia Basin, where Lake Coleridge is situated, only 40 miles away; not a drop fell until yesterday. ' j
The position at the Lake Coleridge power station is considered to be. worse than it was.a month ago, as in a normal season rains could have been expected from the south-west, and a month of that season has now passed. These winds become much less frequent after November.
