WOMEN TEACHERS.
"WHY RETIRE AT AGE OF 55 ? DISCUSSION, IN WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. "Why should women teachers • retire at the age of 55? I don't agree with the proposal at all," said Mrs. E. W. Kane at a meeting of the Wellington College Board when the proposal adopted by the Otago Secondary Schools' Board advocating retiring at the age of Go years by male teachers and at 55 years by Avomen teachers, was received. Members agreed that no retiring age should be fixed by the Wellington Board, and. it was decided to take no action.
