LIGHT HEARTED.

WINS DOUBLE AT VICTORIA. PARK. TWICE FAVOURITE. The ex-New Zealander Light Hearted, who in the past has caused followers of unregistered racing many heartaches owing to his aversion to the barrier, has mended his ways. So much, he made evident at Victoria Park on September 10 (says a Sydney writer), when he won the second divisions of both the Flying and V.P.. Handicaps. After opening a hot favourite for the earlier . event, the Greyspear gelding eased somewhat, as a result of the heavy support accorded Specimen, and at the close of wagering his call over the latter was one of only a quarter of a point. Though restless at the barrier, Light Hearted did not cause a great deal of trouble. He jumped away with the rest of the field, but, beginning slowly, was one of the last three or four horses at the end of the first half-furlong. After he had become balanced Maxwell began to drive him along, and by the time the half-mile had been reached he was running about seventh. As Marobee, Old Peter, De Luxe and Sandry turned into "the straight almost abreast, the favourite 'was handy to them, and, taking charge a furlong from the "winning post, he came on to win, with something in hand, by half a neck from Specimen, who beat Shirlaine by a neck for second place. Light Hearted's presence in the second division of the V.P. Handicap spoiled the event as' a medium of investment. Giving not the slightest trouble at the barrier, he left smartly, but again failed to accumulate pace in the first half-furlong. However, the Greyspear gelding was soon in third position, and, running to the front before making the home turn, he scored at his ease by a length and a- half from Sunny Wit, with Silver Laga two lengths away, third. .. .
