NORTHCOTE EX-SERVICEMEN.
UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF WORK,
Measures to relieve local unemployment among ex-soldiers were considered at a well-attended meeting of the Northcote Ex-Servicemen's Association last evening. Mr. P. J. ByaQ presided. Registers for the enrolment of those members requiring work arc to be kept at the business premises of Mrs Wl3. A. Lepper and Mr. J. Brennan. Whist drives and picture entertainments are to. be organised by the executive. The reported that the recent dance realised £13 12/3, and the picture entertainment £11 10/5, a total of £25 2/8. The money will be used by the executive in the provision of work for ex-soldiers. Several jobs had been found recently for members, who in every instance had given satisfactory service, stated the chairman. The people of Northcote had shown a readiness to assist in providing such employment.
