Fear for the flyers' safety was aroused here when they were still unheard, from at noon; local tiny;. The . steamer. President McKiriley is believed to be the nearest trans-Pacific liner to the position last reported by Bromley. It is estimated at Cleveland that if Bromley is still aloft lie would, at 11 a.m., local time, ; have been only 200 miles from a steamer, and the plane s radio would have been heard, but_ all has been silent from the 'plane since the aviators wirelessed their assistance call. It is understood here that many Japanese fishing boats operate in the vicinity of Cliirihoi, which is near the position last sent out by Bromley.
