CAMBRIDGE HORSE FAIR.
THIRD AND FOURTH DAYS. DEMAND AND PRICES GOOD. (From Our Own Correspondent) CAMBRIDGE, Friday. The Cambridge spring horse fair, organised by the j. dinners' Auctioneering Co., was continued yesterday and again to-day, with the balance of the broken draughts. The sale has been marked by large attendances each day, and in view of _ all the circumstances and conditions it is rather surprising that the demand has been so consistent and. the prices so good over the whole of the sale. It is stated every day that money is tight, but the financial conditions are not so stringent that farmers and others are not prepared to pay a fair price for a good quality utility horse. This year's fair was well organised, and the greater number of the 800 horses catalogued have been placed under the hammer expeditiously. There were no unusually high sales effected since the last report, a six-year grey mare sold by Tozer to J. Gee fetching £38 10/. Mr. N. Banks, of Cambridge, sold a nice three-year-old • bay gelding to R. Knight, Auckland, for £37. Other good sales were:— Four-year bay gelding to D. Torpeu, £35; six-year bay and roan geldings to W. Luxton and E. Rogers for £35; four-year black mare to R. Trougnton, £36. A number of four to six-year-olds sold from £30 tp £34. Good sorts averaged about £16; less likely, £.10 to £12. A few inferior entries were passed in, but the number of entries passed in over the whole of the sale has been surprisingly low. The sals concludes to-morrow with the balance of light horses."
