INTERNATIONAL TOURS. U.S.A. TO DECIDE POLICY. NEW-YORK,. September 13. In an interview the president of the United States Lawn Tennis Association, Mr. Dailey, said: "While we plan to circularise the executive committee byletter, in order to assure a prompt decision regarding the Australian invitation to send a. team for a Christmas visit, the association is faced with the larger problem of a definite policy for tours abroad. "We dare not sacrifice young men whose college terms or business engagements should keep them at home. In the interests of international competition we receive many invitations. We must evolve a method by which _we can encourage international visits without jeopardising the careers of rising young players, particularly in their formative year.\ _ . ' "We have therefore created an International Competitions Committee, which in October will make a definite recommendation for a basic policy." , Mr. Dailey would not indicate whether he personally favoured the acceptance of the Australian invitation. WAITOA CLUB. At the Waitoa Tennis Club's annual meeting, the president, Mr. J. Lynch, said the membership of the club was 59. _ The club distinguished riself in the Piako Association tournament. Miss A. Cook won the iadies' Championship singles and Misses Williams and Luxton the ladies doubles championship. The Waitoa ladies handicap singles for the Johnstone Cup was won by Miss M. Prenter, ard the same donor's cup for men was won by Mr. R. D. Johnstone. It was decided to open the season on October 1 4. Officers were elected for the ensuing season as follows: —Patron, Mr. F. Lye, M-P.; president, Mr. J. Lynch; vice-presidents, Mrs. J. - Cook, Messrs. .J. Luxton, W. S. Goosman and Ross ; secretary, Mr H. Prenter : committee, Messrs. R. D. Johnstone, J.; Lynch, H. Hollier; H. Prenter, A. J. Luxton, Mesdames Lynch, McLaren, and Miss A. Luxton; ground committee, Messrs. L. W. Phillips, S. Hyde, K. Bourke, J. Lynch, and H. Prenter; delegates to Plako association, Messrs. A. J. Luxton and L. W. Phillips. TE KOPCTRU. The annual meeting of the Te Kopuru Tennis Club, presided over by Dr. J. A. Marshall, was held on -Thursday evening. The attendance created a record, and prospects for the coming, season are good. The financial statement disclosed that receipts for the past year amounted to £87 1/1, and expenditure £68 11/1, which was considered very satisfactory. It was decided to open the season on Saturday, October 4. The following officers' were elected Patron, ;Right Hon. J. G. Coates; president., Dr. J. A. Marshall; vice-presidents, Rev. R. A. Macdonald, Mr.-A. Dewbery ; captain, Mr. W. G. Smith ; vice-captain, Mr. W. Smith; secretary and treasurer, Mr. B. R. Bell; committee, the president, captain, vice-cap-tain,. secretary, and Messrs.- C. Leabourn, T. Wordsworth, Mesdames E. R. Rope, W. Smith, Misses J. Donald and K. Walpole.
