THE SPRING MEETING. ; N.Z. ECLIPSE. STAKES. - AN EXCITING RACE. LAUGHING PRINCE WINS BY A. NOSE.' The spring meeting of the Wanganui Jockey. Club was concluded on Saturday in beautiful' weather' and there was a good attendance. The 'New Zealand Eclipse Stakes produced the finest finish that has been seen in this event. : Toxeuma was one of the pacemakers all / ' the way, and in an exciting struggle : over the last half-furlong was only . beaten by a nose by Laughing Prince. ' • The Debutante Stakes'resulted in a win ■ for Ivorokio, a sister to Fernden, who easily outclassed. the opposition. Arisus was taken out of . the Eclipse Stakes, leaving five to start. Toxeuma (£1159), Laughing Prince (£080) and Lady Pam. ( £154) were most fancied. Lady Pam dwelt on the mark, Laughing iV Prince being first to show out from Toxeuma and Simba. As they turned into the back strctch Toxeuma and Laughing Prince were together in front, with Simba closing up next, and then came Lady Pam.
