KARAKA TENNIS BALL.
The most successful social function yet held at Ivaraka took place recently, when the Karaka Tennis Club were the hosts. Visitors were present from all the surrounding districts, the accommodation being inadequate. Streamers and greenery enhanced the appearance of the ballroom. Trophies won during last season were presented by the president, Mr. W. Henry, to the following:—Ladies' championship, Miss M. Walters; men's championship, Mr. W. J. R. Connell; ladies' doubles, Misses J. Walters and M. Costar; combined championship doubles, Mr. and Mrs. Connell; combined handicap doubles, Mr. R. Eagan and Miss B. Charles; ladies' championship, under 21 years, Miss B. Charles. Amongst those present were:—Mrs. F. May, wearing a frock of japonica pink taffeta; Mrs. G. Lang, flame crepo de chine; Mrs. M. Brooke, floral georgette; Mrs. A. Carpenter, blue floral net overdress;- Mrs. A. Thompson, ivory celanese and silver lace; Mrs. R. McGee, fawn georgette over rose crepe de chine; Mrs. L. McKenzie, nile green taffeta \yith silver relief; Mrs. Ponto, apple green, lace overdress; Miss Gladys Ross, in apple green taffeta, ' relieved with pink; Miss ?C. Thorns, apple green silk lace with tiered skirt; Miss M. Donovan, silver lace over sea green satin; Miss M. Thorns, flame lace and satin; Miss A. Morfison (Tamaki) flame stitin with frilled skirt; Miss Kay Brooks (Drury), palest pink tulle over, satin;. Miss I. Bethell (Paerata), black satin and tulle; Miss Phyllis Farley (Waiau Pa), pink and lemon floral taffeta; Miss J. Nobbs, gold satin; Miss M. Egan, electric blue satin relieved with diamante; Miss F. Fitzpatrick, geranium red crepe de chine; Miss Stella Andre, rose pink satin; Miss E. Eenwick, apple green lace with velvet trimmings; Miss Phil Gardiner (Drury), lime green floral taffeta; Miss L. Thompson, cornflower blue satin; Miss Belle Charles, flame taffeta; Miss M. Costar, orchid crepe satin and. georgette; Miss D. Woodroffe (Auckland), apricot tiered taffeta; Miss Mona Kinlock, cyclamen lame and georgette; Miss Nancy Cutfield (Mauku), black chiffon velvet and crepe de chine; Miss I. Richardson, green lace with silver relief;' Miss Queenie Duckeridge, flame satin over lace; Miss V. Ryan, buttercup satin; Miss A. Donovan, lemon crepe de chine relieved, with lime green tulle; Miss M. Walters, betty blue taffeta; Miss C. Jolly, white georgette with silver relief; Miss Joan Hollis (Auckland), frilled frock of sunkissed georgette; Miss M. Paul (Auck* land), black chenille and tulle; Miss M.; McQuarrie (Auckland), lemon crepe de chine.
