LAST MATCH.

BRADMAN'S CHANCE.

Australian Star Batsman Has

A Merry Knock.

163 RUNS FOR TWO

(United- P.A.—Electric Telegraph—-Copyright)

(Received 9.30 a.m.)

* LONDON,' September 11

The start of the second day's play between the Australian cricketers and an English Eleven at Scarborough was delayed to-day by overnight rain. The wicket was good but the outfield slow; the weather is threatening.

When Wyatt declared without any addition to the English score, Jackson and Fairfax opened at 2.45- p.m. on a wicket made for the bowlers. Jackson nicely made 24 runs and was bowled by an almost unplayable ball.

Bradman, who has to get 103 to reach his 3000 in first-class games on the tour, came in and went for the runs. In 3.1 minutes lie scored 42 runs. It was hurricane hitting, and he was particularly severe on Parker and Rhodes.

Kippax soon followed Bradman's lead, cutting and driving . perfectly. Later he lifted Rhodes for a straight six. Bradman at 00, was missed twice. Duckworth fumbled an easy chance of stumping, and Sandham dropped a sitter. The pair added 100' runs in 80 minutes. Bradman's 50 occupied 50 and Kippax's took 05 minutes. The merry hitting continued until an appeal against the light was successful.
