Dr. W. H. Horton rteumed from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. P. Halley, Conciliation Commissioner,. arrived in Auckland by the Limited 1 this morning. Professor W. Hewitson, formerly master of Knox College, Dunedin, is at the Hotel Stonehurst. Mr. E. Dougls Taylor, supervisor of school music, who is visiting Auckland, will return to. Wellington next week. • Mr. W. H. Bird,, chief inspector of primary schools, has returned from his inspection visit to Fiji, and is now in Wellington. Mr. H. H. Watkins, engineer to the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, returned yesterday from a tyusiness visit to Wellington. Mr. J. O. Hanlon, fomerly of Auckland, has been appointed to the literary staff of the "Kettering Telegraph," one of the chain of papers owned by Sir Richard Wimfrey. The Hon. W. A. Veitch, Minister of Railways, arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning, and was met by the Auckland provincial executive of the United party. He is staying at the Central Hotel.
