PROBATION BROKEN.
YOUNG- MAN DISCHARGED.

Pleading guilty to a charge of failing to comply with the terms of his release on probation, Ronald Cronin, alias Frederick Ronald Stevens, a labourer, a<*ed 19, was convicted and discharged by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court this morning.
Chief Detective Hammond, who prosecuted, said accused had been placed on probation at Hamilton on April 1, this year. He Had been ordered to make restitution and had done that. He had, however, failed to report. He had been away fishing, and the police had been looking for him for some time. "His term of probation is now up, added the chief detective. Keeping Bad Company. A similar charge was also preferred against Dorothy Maude Hawkins, a domestic, aged 22. Major Aune Gordon, the female probation officer, said accused had been placed on probation on October 12, 1929, for assisting in the management of a disorderly house. She had failed to report, and had been keeping in bad company. "Last -week-end," said Major Gordon, "she went for a joy-ride to the Thames. Mr. Hunt: "What are you going to do aboutit? Major Gordon: It is the bad company I want to keep her out of. Accused: They won't keep away from me. They keep chasing me all over the place. Major Gordon. That's a lie. Your mother has a good home and she is trying to keep you away from the company you are keeping. The magistrate convicted accused and ordered her to com® up for sentence when called upon.
