MR. PAUL REAPPOINTED.

CASTING VOTE OF CHAIRMAN,

Following the merger of the Otahuhu Trotting Club with the Auckland Trotting Club, considerable interest centred in the appointment of handicapper for the season. Among the local owners and trainers the opinion was freely held that there should be one handicapper for the South Island and one for The Xor+h. Island, and a petition satting this out was presented on behalf of trainers and owners at the meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club yesterday afternoon. Mr. G. Paul has been handicapper for the Auckland club, and Mr. C. Goosman for the Otahuhu club, and both were seeking the position. The voting of the committee was equal, and on the casting vote of the chairman, Mr. J. Rowe. Mr. Paul was reappointed, but ihe | appointment was made from meeting to meeting.
