TROTTING NOTES.

VISITING HORSES ARRIVE. NO FAST WORK TO-DAY. TRAINING TRACK VERY HEAVY. The work at the Epsom track this morning was very uninteresting and not a workout was recorded with any semblance of making time. The dirt track was heavy and trainers worked their horses steadily on the sand or cinders. Mignonne (McMahon) was hoppled up, but merely jogged a couple of miles. Mountain Dell (Hill) also had the straps on, but her task was an easy one. Belle Axworthy, Warp lane, Laplander, Windshield, Evelyn Locanda, Nelson Tasker and Direct Morning were included in the usual horses working regularly. None of them had the hopples 011.

Stoney was gallopped in saddle, and Laplander did steady pacing, unhoppled, in company with the trotter Golden Huia.

The trotter Bright Light put in appearance and was doing steady jogging.

Ockley Wood (Berkett) was not asked to go at top in trotting a couple of rounds. She went to a break twice.

The Auckland Handicap fancy, Grand Light, arrived from the south this morning. He showed consistently good form at the Metropolitan meeting and will be one of the favourites on Saturday.

W. Tomkinson's team, comprising the pacer Country King and the trotters John Mauritius and Surprise Journey, has arrived to fulfil engagements.

Other visitors to put in an appearance were Sailor Boy and Great Delight.
