ALLEGED THEFT OF FUNDS.

REMANDED FOR A MONTH. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAWERA, this day. . Donald Alexander Stewart, clerk of the Normanby Town Board, and well known in poultry circles throughout New Zealand, appeared in the Police Court at Hawera to-day charged with the'.theft °f Town Board funds during April, 1927. Other char ges involving over £300 are pending, and a remand until September 24—an unusually long period, to enable investigations to be carried out — was granted. Bail was allowed. Counsel for accused said the charges related to faulty bookkeeping.
