SWORN AT £337,000.
SIR JOSEPH WARD'S WILL.
GIFT OF £1000 FOR CHARITY.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WELLINGTON, this day.
■ The will of the late Sir Joseph Ward has been sworn for probate at £337,000. The residue, after the payment of a bequest of £1000 "to Mother Mary Joseph Aubert for charity," will be distributed among the children of Sir Joseph, with the stipulation that the share of the eldest son, Sir Cyril Ward, is to be greater than that of the other members of the family.
On Saturday morning notice was received at the Home of Compassion, Island Bay, from Sir Joseph Ward's solicitor that he had bequeathed the sum of £1000 to Mother Mary Aubert for charity. Mother Aubert, however, has died since the will was drawn up, and it is probable that the money will devolve upon the institution with which her name has been so particularly associated, the Home of Compassion.
