COLLIERY IDLE.
STOP WORK MEETING AT MILLERTON. i VICTIMISATION ALLEGED. (By Telegraph.—Fress Association.) WESTPORT, Monday. As a result of a stop-work meeting held by the Millerton Miner's Union yesterday in connection with the dismissal of an employee, which was claimed to be a case of victimisation, the colliery will remain idle until such time as the matter is satisfactorily adjusted.
Four meu ceased work as a protest against tie alleged unfair distribution of overtime.
Three of the party were reinstated after interviewing the manager, but it is stated that the fourth was refused employment, and his decision precipitated the trouble.
It is understood that the West Coast Miners' Council will be asked to deal with the matter. ■
