POST OFFICE THEFT.

SERIOUS ASPECTS OF OFFENCE

MENTION OF BOOKMAKERS,

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRIST CHURCH, Friday. A sentence of six months' imprisonment was imposed in the Supreme Court to-day on Herbert Ormond Lawrence for the theft of £80 from the Addington Post Office. "This man has given no previous trouble," said the Crown Prosecutor. "The difficulty about the case, however, is that, although the. offence was unpremeditated, it was a serious one, committed under very serious conditions. The reports of the police and the probation officer showed that Lawrence was connected with bookmakers."
