AWARD OF £1000.
INJURY SUSTAINED IN COLLISION. MOTOR LORRY AND CAR. The full amount claimed, £1000 general damages, and. £59 19/G special damages, was to-day awarded by a jury to George Hunter Smart, plumber of Wellington, in his action in the Supreme Court against Devina Elsie Aitken, owner, and John Aitken, driver, of a motor lorry "involved in a collision with plaintiff's car. The accident occurred on December 22, and as a result Smart lost an eye. Counsel for defendants intimated that ho would consider moving for a new trial on the grounds that the damages awarded were excessive.
