Unfortunate circumstances relate to a fire which occurred at- Man ngakara niea vesterdav when a house under construction for Mr. and .Mrs. Phillip HaF.iday, recent arrivals in the. district, was burnt to the ground. .Mr. Halliday was workin'" 1 on° his farm, which is comprised largely. of ' broken country and was in a <mlly. out of sight' of the homestead. Mrs. Halliday took afternoon tea to him and it was while partaking of this that they noticed, smoke coming from the direction of the house. They went to the top of a rise and their worst fears were confirmed. ■ , y, The house was blazing furiously and they were powerless to save anything. The house and not the contents were insured.
