TO BE USED FOR THE LYING-IN-STATE OF THE LATE SIR MAUI POMARE. —The casket for the ashes of Sir Maui Pomare, carved by Mr. T. Heberly, woodcarver on the staff of the Dominion Museum. The casket, which is a beautiful piece of work, is in imitation of the wakahuia, or ornament box, in which the Maoris of old stored their feathers and other precious ornaments, hut is considerably larger.
