ON 'CHANGE.

FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES. " I A BUSY AFTERNOON. SALES AT RECENT VALUES.

An unwonted burst of activity was the feature of yesterday afternoon's trading, and before brokers adjourned for the day quite a tidy list of sales had been recorded. The business covered a fair range, and recent values as a whole were fully maintained. In the case of 4Vs War Bonds an advance was registered. This morning's call produced a decided change. Only one fresh sale was recorded, and in a period of dull bidding a number of stocks, chiefly Australian, disclosed further weakness. In banks, Commercials offered at £1 0/2, E., S. and A. at £5 17/ and National of Australasia (con.) at £6*17/0 were ail lower. The pastoral section, likewise, was easier, with Dal-o-ety's offered at £10, Goldsbrougli, Morts at £1 6/6. and River Plates at £1 9/. ■1 paved Loan and Mercantile prefs. was available at £81. Electro. Zinc prefs. cased further, with sellers at £11/. After a sale of 4% War Bonds at par more are still sought at the same figure. The Noon Call. The quietness of the early morning continued, and at the noon call there was not a single sale to record, and bidding was a train dull. Banks and shipping shares received most attention, but buyers were seeking further concessions, with holders unwilling to accommodate. A buyer for Huddart, Parkers came in -with an offer of £1 15/6. _ Timaru Breweries were again asked lor, with 13/3 offered for the ordinary shares and 6/3 for the 5/ paid. A parcel of Point Chevalier Road Board debentures, 5 p.c. (1949) was offered at £94.
