DEBT FOR BOARD.

YOUNG MAN GRANTED PROBATION.

Having been remanded in the care of the Salvation Army from last week, James Arthur McCrae appeared in the Police Court yesterday to answer a charge of on March 10 obtaining credit by fraud in incurring a debt of £30 for board.

Staff-Major Holmes said that McCrae's parents had been written to on the question of restitution, but had not answered. "Apparently," he said, "they won't have anything to do with him." McCrae was placed on probation for twelve months by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., and ordered to make restitution, as directed by the probation officer. : ■ — \
