MAN WALKS INTO HOUSE,
WOMAN MISSES HER PURSE.
A sentence of one month's imprisonment was imposed on George Harrison, 48, labourer, by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court this morning, for stealing a purse containing 5/, the property of Lucy Duncan. Sub-Inspector Shanahan, who prosecuted, said that about 3.15 p.m. yesterday, accused, who was hawking fishlieads, went into Miss Duncan's house. He walked right inside, and was found by the owner in a bedroom. When asked what he was doing, he replied: "Selling fish-lieads." He walked out of the house in company with Miss Duncan, who found, on investigation, that her purse was missing. She gave chase, and accused dropped the bag. When she picked it up, the money was missing. Accused was later found drinking in a hoteL He had 45 previous convictions.
