GRAMMAR SCHOOL BAZAAR.
A large and successful two days' bazaar, organised by a ladies' committee, with Mrs. C. M. Littlejohn as president, assisted by a men's committee, with Mr. T. B. Arthur as chairman, Mr. C. E. Archibald as secretary and Mr. L. Wilkins as treasurer, was opened 3resterday afternoon at the Takapuna Grammar School by Professor A. P. W. Thomas. The classrooms 'wrtre used for the different stalls, which were tastefully arranged by the holders, and a Avonderful collection of saleable articles was displayed to the best advantage. Professor Thomas, who was M. Littlejohn, was accompanied by the Mayor and Mayoress, Sir. and Mrs. Julius Williamson, Sir George and Lady Fowlds, Mr. and Mrs. L. Harrison, Mr. Binsted, Mr. C. E. Archibald. Professor Thomas spoke of the object for which the bazaar has been organised, to provide a building fund for an assembly hall, and congratulated the school executive on the great effort being made to help themselves. A hall was of vital importance to a school, being the centre of the pupils' daily life, and he wished all concerned every success in the enterprise. The large doors were then opened to the public. The stallholders were:—Plain work, Mesdames Mcßride a'nd A. Goodwin, assisted by Mesdames S. Heighway, Entriean and Misses Matthews and Koefed; fancy work, Mesdames Munro and Hill, assisted by Mesdames J. Bartrum, Rollo, Randall and Hoyte; apron stall, Mesdames R. Warren a'nd Keesing, assisted by Mesdames Tasker, A. Hough, Grimshaw, Cooper, C. Brinsden and Blamires; woollies and baby stall, Mesdames A. W. Short, C. M. Littlejohn, assisted by Mesdame3 McMurtrie, Deigerton, Chalmers, West, Yarnton, Weight, Kennings, Bees-George and H. Seagar; art stall, Mrs. E. v Clarke, assisted by Mesdames T. B. Arthur, Smallfield, Markham, B. Schmidt, Robins and Kingsford; cakes, Mrs. Berinett, assisted by Mesdames Foreman, Everton, Melville, Clifton, Buckley, Cornwell, Higson, and Howden; sweets stall, Mesdames Hillicr, Spriggs and N. Howe, assisted by Mesdames GrifTe'n, Farquharson, Hamlin, Buchanan, Roberts, Middleton; produce, Mesdames G. Nicks and Mowbray,- assisted by Mesdames Hay, Foot, Herbert, Kensington and Titlieridge; flowers, Mrs. H. H. Watkins, assisted by Mesdames Archibald, Allnutt, Foster and Melville; books and jumble stall, Mrs. Scales, assisted by Mesdames E. Hill, Thomson, and Miss Warner. The fancy stall was arranged by the Ex-pupils' Association; pictures a'nd dips, by the girls of the school; tea, rooms, Miss Mac Donald (the headmistress), the staff and senior girls; competitions, Mrs. G. H. Matthews; sideshows, Messrs. C. Brinsden and Rambaud; picture gallery, Mrs. Chandler; ping pong tables, Mr. G. H. Matthews. A playlet, staged by Mrs. Mowbray, will be given each eve'ning, "An Imaginary Invalid" being chosen for to-night.
