MRS. HOSKING V. MISS HORTON.
In the final of the Auckland Ladies' Provincial Golf Championship this afternoon between Mrs. T. W. Hosking (Titirangi) and Miss K. Horton (Titirangi), tlio former outplayed her opponent at the first hole, and had a good opportunity on the green, whicli she lost by failing to putt out for a four, the hola being halved in five. Two poor wood shots by Mrs. Hosking gave Miss Horton an advantage at the second, but the former made a recovery with her fourth shot and had a twelvefoot putt for a half, which she missed, Miss Horton taking the hole. Miss Horton played a splendid iron at the third,.but a good approach putt by Mrs. Hosking enabled the latter to halve the hole. At the fourth Mrs. Hosking had a, splendid opportunity to square the game,- but missed a three-foot putt and the hole was halved in four. Mrs. Hosking at the fifth played a characteristic tee shot, and although both were on in three, Mrs. Hosking putted better and won the hole in 5 to 6, thus evening up the score. Still All Square at Seventh. The sixth was halved in sixes, faulty putting "being again in evidence 011 both sides. The seventh saw both on the green with their tee shots, Miss Horton playing a pretty stroke, with her mid-iron, the ball "kicking" conveniently short of the bunker, to run to 6ft short of the hole. Mrs. Hosking failed with a long putt, and Miss Horton missed licifT; the hole being halved in threes.
