MAN LYING 'ON ROAD.

WELLINGTON, Monday,

Mr. E. F. Healy, M.P. for Wairau, was walking across Custom House , Quay at 5.45 last evening, accompanied by Mrs. Healy, when the latter was struck down by a motor car. As far as is known Mrs. Healy was not severely injured.

at the same time, or shortly afterward, someone discovered a man lying on a road in Jervois Quay, near the Queen's wharf gates. The ambulance was senb for and the man was taken to the hospital with a fractured skull. Hie was identified later as John McInness, 'but his address is not known. •Late last evening ho was still unconscious, and hi« condition was reported to be serious.
