CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.

METROPOLITAN GUN CLUB.

The Metropolitan Gun Club held its fortnightly shoot on Saturday. Though weather conditions were not the best tor good shooting, there were some good scores. There was a large attendance of members. The results were as follow:— „„,„„ Five-birds' Sweepstake.—P. N. Gallie (16yds) and F. Keene shot five each ana divided the stake. \ 'The fifteen-birds* match for a tropbxpresented by Messrs. W. H. Tisdall, Ltd., drew 24 entries. G. H. Browne (17yds) • and F. Keene (16yds) shot 13 each and divided first and second money. In the shoot-off for the trophy Keene won on the 25th bird. F. Hazard (16yds), J. Milne (13yds),.and L. Peterson (16yds) divided third money with 12 each. *■''■• The fifteen-birds' match for a cup donated by Mr. W. Houlston drew 19 entries. G. H. Brown (15yds) shot the possible and holds the cup for one year. 3. Milne (12yds) was second with 14. C. E. Hodge (16yds) and E. J. Schpfield (14yds) divided third money with 13 The club will hold teams matches open to any club in the Auckland province, also one £25 and" one £50 open handicap match, on August 22 and 23.

HAMILTON GUN CLUB. The Hamilton Gun Club held a day pigeon shoot at Ruakura on Saturday for a trophy presented by Mr. TV. Howe, which was won by Mr. F. Hyde, of Otorohanga. The results of the various contests were:— No. 1 Sweep, 6 birds. —W. J. McMiken and F. Hyde shot the possible and divided the sweep. •'• '• ; _ ~ " No 2 Sweep. 9 birds. —C. Seddon. W. J. McMiken, and F. Hyde shot eight birds each and divided. No. 3 Shoot, for trophy presented by Mr. W. Howe. —W. J. McMiken and F. Hyde shot the possible. Hyde won the shootoff. H. Earle, C. Seddon -and- G. Thrupp tied for third place. jNo 4, Gimrack, 9 birds. —Murray and Pratt shot the possible. T. Glenn, C. Seddon and W. M. Howe tied for second place. No. 5 Sweep, double rise.—G. Thrupp 1, Murray, Pratt and C. Seddon, equal 2.
