"OF THE EMPIRE."

THE ARGENTINE'S PLACE.

LONDON, August 1

Sir Malcolm Robertson, until recently British Ambassador at Buenoa Ayres, writes in an article in the "Times" that there- are special reasons why the Argentine, though not in the Empire, should be regarded as of it.

Between £500,000,000 and £600,000,000 of British capital is invested in the Argentine, he says, and 16,000 miles of railways are British-owned and managed, as also are tramways and water and gas works. British companies own millions of acres of land, and millions of cattle and sheep.
