VARIETY OF SEEDS.
Consideration should now be given to the variety of seeds to be sown for the coming season, and it is well to plot out the ground available according to quantities required of the' several kinds, so that some estimate of the amount of seed needed can be made. There are so many varieties catalogued that it is almost bewildering to the inexperienced amateur to know which to select, so ■ that some guide as to the best of the standard sorts may be useful at this season. Where' certain' varieties have been grown that have given satisfaction it is best to again sow them, but it is a good plan to try some new sorts in smaller'quantities each season to test their qualities with the other sorts. In cabbages and carrots there has been a great advance in quality. The cabbages recommended are of the small, quick-hearting varieties, tender and of' good quality. The improved varieties of carrots are red-fleshed throughout, the harder yellow cord having been eliminated.
